Health AI is strengthening the Massachusetts Health Care Ecosystem

Health AI Assurance Lab

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to improve the way health care is delivered by creating clinical and administrative workflow efficiencies, supporting disease prevention and early disease diagnosis, and automating patient monitoring. It’s important that these technologies contribute to a more equitable health care system and that innovators have access to the resources they need to ensure their products provide benefits to all individuals.

To support that effort, MeHI convenes stakeholders within the health technology ecosystem to inform and promote collaboration among researchers, entrepreneurs, government and investors to ensure that these technologies can improve the health outcomes of all patients regardless of their racial, gender, economic, geographic or cultural background.

Health AI Assurance Lab

The Health AI Assurance Lab is the first-of-its-kind in Massachusetts and aims to improve the safety and effectiveness of AI technology in health care.  This recorded webinar includes a panel discussion with leaders of the Lab from UMass Chan Medical School and MITRE, and addresses the purpose of the Lab, available resources and use cases that the Lab can potentially support.

The Health AI Assurance Lab is a joint effort between the UMass Chan Medical School and MITRE and has been funded in part by a grant from the Innovation Institute at MassTech Collaborative.

The Implications of Recent Legislation for Developers & Users of AI Tools in Healthcare

To help inform the community, MeHI and HealthTech Build hosted an expert panel in mid-January that tackled ongoing policy discussions and the implications in both the U.S. and E.U. The webinar also explored the considerations for both developers and users of health care AI tools and systems, particularly how these solutions can promote health equity rather than contribute to health disparities among particular ethnic and racial groups.
